Mentors

The purpose of this program is to provide general guidance for 1st year MBA students.  This may include but is not limited to:
  • Internship advice
  • Career advice
  • Class scheduling
  • Interviewing tips or mock interviews
  • Resume review
As second years, we remember the valuable assistance we received from second year MBA students last year and would like to give back by providing the same assistance to first year MBA's this year.

Please review the background of the mentors and contact the person who may be best able to advise on your specific situation.

Thank you in advance to the Mentors who volunteered!  Second year students, if you would like to be added to the Mentor list, please send an email with a brief description of yourself to Joel Gaynor at gaynorj@bu.edu.

I am concentrating in finance and have a particular interest in
mathematical finance, particularly in Equity Capital Markets. Another
area of interest is algorithmic trading. I have had my summer
internship with a former IB giant that went on dust recently...

I worked this summer as an intern at Ardour Capital LLC, an alternative energy investment bank. I focused specifically on the upcoming battery companies and how they are reacting to the rise of the hybrid electric vehicle in the marketplace. However I can discuss any of the major emerging technologies such as Bio fuels, Solar power or Fuel cells. I worked as an Equity analyst so if you would like to know where they fit in the finance world I can be of help. Prior to Business school I worked in the corporate trust department at the Bank of New York Mellon in Corporate Bonds.

I am a real estate professional with a background in sales, construction management, accounting, and legal functions. In the two years prior to returning to school, I served as the VP of Administration for The Collaborative Companies, a condominium marketing firm based in Boston. My goal entering the MBA program is to transition from corporate finance for a real estate company to real estate investment finance: I would like to work in the real estate department of a commercial bank, insurance company, pension fund, large corporation, or investment management firm. My target area is the greater Boston area.

Over the summer I interned with Bank of America. Given the current financial environment, I plan to join Bank of America next year in a non-real estate capacity.

My undergraduate training is in religious studies from Yale University, and I worked through university chaplain's offices for my first 4 years out of college.

I am a second year MS-MBA who is concentrating in finance.  My work experience prior to business school was in sales in the transportation industry.

I have done an internship with a boutique investment bank last winter and with an investment manager in the summer.  I am hoping to work in the capital markets after graduation.
